Assistant Professor of Counselor Education

Responsibilities: The Counselor Education program is seeking a colleague committed to excellence in research, scholarship, and teaching. We seek a person with strong leadership and mentoring skills for the following: 1) Masters level Mental Health Counseling Program 2) Masters level School Counseling Program 3) Certificate of Advanced Studies Program 4) Doctoral Program for Counselor Educators The successful candidate will be committed to a program moving towards greater visibility with a highly competitive research agenda. Faculty positions in Social Psychology, I/O, or Africana Studies at Texas A&M University

(Submitted August 27, 2008) The Department of Psychology invites applications for up to 6 faculty positions: up to 3 in social psychology, 1 in industrial/organizational psychology, and up to 2 in Africana Studies. Individuals whose work falls into one of these fields exclusively or combines one of these fields with others in psychology are encouraged to apply. These positions will begin September 1, 2009. SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY: Three positions may be filled, with the search targeted at the Assistant Professor level although exceptional individuals at any rank are encouraged to apply. Kent State University includes eight academic colleges and the College of Undergraduate Studies, The Honors College, the College of Graduate Studies, and seven Regional Campuses. All these units report to the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost. The Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs reports to the Senior VP for Academic Affairs and Provost. Tenure-track Assistant Professor 19th Century American Literature and Cultural Studies

(Submitted July, 2008) The Departments of English and Cultural Studies in the School of Arts and Humanities at Claremont Graduate University invite applications and nominations for a joint appointment in 19th century American Literature and Cultural Studies at the rank of Assistant Professor, tenure-track beginning Fall 2009. A PhD is required. The successful candidate must be able to teach graduate seminars in major American writers and literary developments of the 19th century and in Cultural Studies, and will serve as an advisor, mentor, and provide professional development training for our M.A. and PhD students. Expertise in one or more of the following areas of specialization is important: Colonial/Postcolonial Studies; Gender Studies; 19th century Race Relations and Ethnic Literature; U.S Empire Studies; Comparative Study of the Americas, Transnational and Border Studies. We are seeking applicants with solid teaching and mentoring experience in both American Literature and Cultural Studies who will bring transdisciplinary perspectives to research and teaching. Ideally, the candidate will hold a PhD in English, but we will consider candidates with degrees in other fields who have a demonstrably strong publication record in 19th century American Literature. The Humanities departments work closely together in the School of Arts and Humanities at the Claremont Graduate University; we are looking for a colleague who can help us to make connections across the disciplines of English, Cultural Studies, History and Philosophy and who can serve the needs of graduate students in the Humanities, in general.

Assistant Professor of Molecular and Cell Biology – Tenure Track

The successful candidate for this position will work collaboratively with other division faculty to teach, develop curricula, and conduct research with undergraduates. The candidate will join the Division of Science and Environmental Policy (SEP), a collaborative group of scientists who offer our flagship B.S. degree in Environmental Science Technology and Policy, and our new B.S. degree in Biology. Wilbur Kitchener Jordan Chair of the History of European Civilization (Endowed Chair)

(Submitted August 13, 2008) Scripps College, a women’s liberal arts college with a strong interdisciplinary tradition, seeks a senior scholar (associate or full professor) for the Wilbur Kitchener Jordan Chair of the History of European Civilization to begin in the 2009-2010 academic year. Field of expertise and geographical focus are open but the department is especially interested in a scholar who studies the interaction of Europe with the Mediterranean and/or Atlantic worlds in the Early Modern period. The teaching load is five courses for the year, and advising on senior theses is anticipated. Participation in the Core Curriculum in Interdisciplinary Humanities is expected. Assistant Professor in Music (Voice) - Scripps College

(Submitted August 25, 2008) Scripps College, a woman’s liberal arts college with a strong interdisciplinary tradition, invites applications for a tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Music, soprano or mezzo-soprano, to teach Voice and other music courses as needed. The teaching load is five courses per year. The position will begin in Fall 2009. Teaching experience and a doctorate are required. Responsibilities include teaching applied voice to undergraduate music majors and non-majors, teaching general education or major music courses in music history or theory, and participating in the Core Curriculum in Interdisciplinary Humanities. The successful candidate will have a strong background in a secondary area of music (e.g. musicology, music theory, ethnomusicology) in addition to an accomplished vocal resume. The Scripps College Music Department provides instruction in music theory, music history, ethnomusicology, and performance to both majors and non-majors in a highly challenging liberal arts setting. This tenure-track position will commence in Fall 2009. A Ph.D. is required. The successful candidate must be able to teach in nineteenth and twentieth-century European history as well as in cultural studies including one or more of the following desired specializations: colonial/postcolonial history, the history of human rights, or comparative/transnational history. The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D. in history. We will consider exceptional candidates with a non- history degree if they are strongly grounded in historical methodologies as well as cultural studies and other transdisciplinary perspectives. The successful applicant will have solid teaching experience and a demonstrably strong record of publications. The successful applicant will teach graduate seminars in cultural studies and history in addition to advising, mentoring, and providing professional development training for M.A. and Ph.D. students in cultural studies and history.

The Department of Community Studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz, invites applications for a full-time tenured scholar focused on the theory and practice of social movements, civil society institutions and/or the third sector within neoliberalism. We are especially interested in candidates who conduct research in one or more of the following areas: the relationship between social movements and their institutionalization in non-profit organizations; non-institutionalized social movements and new non-statist formations; the role and effects of the third sector as they are linked to the creation of new political subjectivities; the role of NGOs in poverty alleviation and development work, domestically and transnationally; the construction of third sector presences and social mobilizations through new digital platforms; discourses of community as deployed in social justice work; notions of civic engagement as they articulate with communities of color in the US and/or racial formations in a transnational or post-colonial context.
